Lunch & Learn with Melanie from The Mazi Project

What is this session about?

In this session, Melanie will share the journey of The Mazi Project, a community-led initiative that provides creative spaces and opportunities for marginalised groups, including refugees, asylum seekers, and young people. 

“By delivering recipe kits and cooking workshops, we use the notion of the dinner table and breaking bread, to reduce isolation, build confidence and make those in need feel cared for and extraordinary.” (The Mazi Project) 

Melanie will discuss the challenges and triumphs of building a social enterprise, as well as share practical tips and insights on how to create positive change in your own community. Don't miss this opportunity to be inspired and motivated by Melanie's passion and expertise! 

About Melanie Vaxevanakis:  

Melanie is the founder of The MAZI Project and has experience working to tackle social inequality, especially with vulnerable young people and refugees. She believes in empowering marginalised communities by improving their access to choice, healthier lifestyles, education and employment.  
 
She comes from a documentary filmmaking and photography background and aims to incorporate her storytelling skills in campaigning for change in policy and perspective.

This interactive session will include a Q&A, providing attendees with the opportunity to ask questions and learn from our guest speaker's expertise. Bring your lunch and your curiosity as we explore the innovative work being done in Bristol's social enterprise community! 

It is set to run online using Zoom. To take part, you will need a laptop with a camera, microphone, and Wi-Fi. You will not require any additional software, and you don't need a Zoom account or to download the app to take part, but you may wish to do so.
